Quick Facts

  • Fashion Girls so far has raised over $400,000 in 2011 and 2012
  • We are a 100% volunteer-based organization.  Event space, furnishings and racks are all in-kind donations from local businesses.
  • Our goal is to efficiently and productively raise funds in order to support groups who are in the field for relief and/or rebuilding efforts.  Already this year, within 7 months after our sale in April, our donation enabled one communal house to be designed and built by an architect based group, Home For All/KISYN, lead by renown architect Toyo Ito for a town of 30,000 people who have been displaced since the 2011 earthquake and Tsunami disaster in the northeastern regions of Japan.

About Us

FASHION GIRLS FOR HUMANITY, formerly Fashion Girls for Japan, is a charitable 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization  and was founded in the wake of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster by Kikka Hanazawa, Tomoko Ogura, Julie Gilhart and Miki Higasa, fashion industry leaders in New York.  With the interest in raising funds and bringing awareness to the relief and rebuilding efforts for the affected areas in the northeastern regions of Japan, fundraising events such as designer sales have been organized in NYC with support from designers and the fashion community.  Thus far, FGFJ has partnered with Japan Society’s Japan Earthquake Relief Fund as well as Toyo Ito’s KISYN in Japan who have been effectively supporting the communities and children in northeastern Japan.  Since it’s inception, Fashion Girls for Humanity has evolved its mission to bring humanitarian services and funds to communities in need through its global network of fashion, and design industry professionals.
